- Actress Nitya Menon to Turn Director
Popular South Indian actress Nitya Menon, who has already proven her mettle in the South Indian film industry by acting in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam films, is all greared up to level up her filmy career. The Bangalore girl is already known for her singing and dubbing talent alongside acting, which has given her the nickname 'Next to Soundarya' already. Born to a Malayalam speaking family in Bangalore, Nitya was seen as a child artist in the dawn of her filmy career. After she completed her Masters in Mass Communication, she started playing lead roles. She entered Sandalwood through Josh and was notably acclaimed for her performance in Mynaa. Nitya Menon is scaling up her multitalented facet by entering into direction, which according to her, will be a women centric movie. - Prakash Rai to Enter Dandupalya
Director Srinivasa Raju was in news 2 years ago when he made the controversial Dandupalya, a biopic on the lives of a gang of brutal serial killers, which had Pooja Gandhi in the main role. He had hinted about a sequel in the climax of the movie, for which the time seems to have arrived. Along with the time, it also marks the entry of super talented actors Prakash Rai, along with Bollywood's Irrfan Khan and Mahesh Manjrekar, in Dandupalya - 2. Off late, Kannada cinema has opened its eyes to beautiful cinematography, thanks to the technology insemination and the hard work of our technicians. Here are some notable cinematographers who have been nominated for their camerawork for the respective movies. Sathya Hegde, the cinematographer for Mynaa, is already brimming with joy on the film winning the Best Film Award in Filmfare South. - RJ Sreeni, Topiwala Director, Turns Actor
RJ Sreeni, who was seen as the director of Upendra starrer Topiwala, is now directing a new movie which also marks his acting debut. The film is aptly titled Srinivasa Kalyana and is already giving vibes that portray it to be a romantic comedy, despite the title carrying with it all sorts of justifications to make it a mythological movie. Sreeni has personally written the story, screenplay, dialogues for the movie and actress Nikhila Rao will be paired opposite him. - Actor Kadhal Dandapani Dead
Popular South Indian actor, Kadhal Dhandapani, who came to limelight through the movie Kadhal, has passed away due to heart attack on Sunday according to family sources. Dhandapani has acted in more than 160 films spanning Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. He had also acted in the movies Cheluvina Chittara and Super in Kannada. His roles were mainly antagonistic in nature, and Dhandapani was identified for his unique villanous looks. - Ragini Dwivedi Starrer Namaste Madam Completes Shooting
Ragini Dwivedi and Srinagara Kitty were busy shooting their next movie Namaste Madam, directed by Raghuraj, who has directed movies in Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil. Namaste Madam also stars Nikesha Patel who plays Kitty's wife. Namaste Madam, by the way, is the remake of the Telugu movie Missamma which was released about a decade ago. - Baanaadi, Another Film for Children to Come Soon
Writer and actor Nagaraja Kote had written a story which had won the best story award and was later developed into a novel, 'Usiru'. This novel was also developed into a play and had achieved huge accolades for its content. Reeling under the successes of the book and the play, Nagaraja Kote decided to make it into a movie by writing a suitable screenplay for it, by naming it Baanaadi. Citing it to be a commercial movie, the director has asserted that they have not included any elements that would take off the artisitic feel from the film. Nagaraja Kote is actively involved in writing, theatre, acting supporting and comedy roles in movies, and also doing TV roles. 12 year old Praful will be playing the lead in the movie and veteran actor Dattanna will play his grandfather. - Love Story of Jaggesh to Become a Movie
Most of us by now know that Jaggesh too had a love story where he married Parimala. But here's the deal! Jaggesh is all set to make a biopic of his love story where his role will be enacted by his younger son Yatiraj for which he has written the story and screenplay. Jaggesh and Parimala fell in love when they were 19 and 14 respectively, which had caused a furore and had even attracted the court's intervention in resolving the issue. - Prem and Amoolya to Act in Male
Lovely Star Prem and Amoolya had been in news recently for winning the Best Actor and Actress Awards respectively for their movies Charminar and Shravani Subramanya. Charminar was directed by R Chandru who will also be directing the movie Male, with Prem and Amoolya in the lead roles. - Dance Master Murali Turns Film Director
Dance masters turning into movie directors is a trend that has surfaced recently, with the likes of Harsha and Imran Sardaria diving into the directional department. Now, master Murali, who choreographed the popular 'Pyaarge Aagbittaithe' song which featured Komal and Parul Yadav tapping their feet is finally making his directorial debut in an untitled movie that has Komal playing the lead. - Miss Mallige Certified as Adults Only
Oscar Krishna's next directorial Miss Mallige had released their trailer recently which had raised some eyebrows for the bold content it contained within. Roopa Nataraj, who had earlier acted in the movie Gaali, uttering bold dialogues that were termed as 'the height of double meaning' in the industry, is back with a bolder act as she dons the role of Miss Mallige. Earlier, the movie was originally titled 'Mysore Mallige' and was recently changed to 'Miss Mallige' after the intervention of veteran director T S Nagabharana and pro-Kannada activists. After having kept on hold for a fortnight, the regional Censor Boad of Maharashtra have reviewed the movie and 'Miss Mallige' has been certified by the Central Board of Film Certification as suitable for adults only, owing to its sensual content. Talks were also that the title bore similarity to an amateur sex tape that was leaked a decade ago of a couple, of which the CDs were unofficially titled 'Mysore Mallige' and had created a huge controversy. - Vaastu Prakara to Release on October 2
Yogaraj Bhat's most anticipated movie Vaastu Prakara has finally set its release date to October 2, on the occasion of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. The producers N Kumar and Karisubbu have jointly decided to release the movie on this date, after the shooting is reportedly supposed to end by the first week of August.
